The Juliana Rose

The Juliana
Rose appeared in the fashion pages in 1854.
Initially low brimmed, the bonnet sat
far back on the head.
The brim rose as the 1860’s
approached.

popular in the very early 1860's and the
first spoon bonnet which appeared in 1862.

brim flared more over the forehead creating a
spoon shaped profile. Late in 1864, the empire
bonnet appeared. The style achieved
increasing popularity as favor of the
spoon bonnet began to wane and was the favored
style of bonnet in the mid-1860's.
