Exemplified
by a two piece blocked crown and flared brim, the Clara
Christine appeared in the fashion pages as early as
1854. In the early sixties, the brim flared more over
the forehead creating a spoon shaped profile. Late in
1864, the empire bonnet appeared. The style achieved
increasing popularity as favor of the spoon bonnet
began to wane and was the favored style of bonnet in the
mid-1860's.
The Clara Christine is
available with three different shapes to
span the mid 1850's to mid 1860's. All
three shapes are taken directly from
original bonnets. The pattern includes a 20
page instruction booklet complete with
detailed illustrations.
